Zeta Beta Tau is a Winner!

The Iota chapter of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity is now the official best fraternity on the University of Denver Campus. This fraternity was awarded the Presidential Pillar of Scholarship, the Entrepreneur Award, as well as the Chapter of Achievement Award. Cory Lamz, a brother of ZBT, was honored to receive Greek Scholar of the Year, and Professor Elizabeth Stapp, ZBT’s faculty advisor, was honored with the Faculty Advisor of the Year. Not only was ZBT awarded the most awards out of any fraternity at the University of Denver, the Chapter of Achievement Award was the highest honor handed out to any fraternity at DU. Prescott Adams, the President of Iota, was quoted as saying, “we are tremendously happy and proud of our achievements, and I am confident we will continue to improve all aspects of our chapter in the coming year.” Overall, this was a great night for ZBT and a great night for the University of Denver Greek community

Walter Sutton ('67) has been inducted in the National Bar Association Hall of Fam

Since 1986, the National Bar Association (NBA) Hall of Fame has recognized lawyers who have been licensed to practice law for forty years or more and who have made significant contributions to the cause of justice. In determining who should receive this honor, the NBA Hall of Fame considers key qualities, including ethical courage, intellectual accomplishments, professional achievements, and community contributions.

We are pleased to announce that, this year, the NBA Hall of Fame selected Walter Sutton, who is the Associate General Counsel on the Legal Administration team responsible for external relations, for this honor and will induct Walter into the NBA Hall of Fame during the NBA annual conference in New Orleans.

During his forty years of practice, Walter has contributed significantly to the legal profession and society through a variety of positions. He began his legal career after law school with Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. Since that initial corporate legal department experience, Walter worked with two other major corporations - - Texas Instruments in Dallas and, of course, now Wal-Mart. Also, during his career, he taught MBA students at Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas at Dallas, worked at the Dallas law firm of Hughes and Luce, and served as Regional Counsel for the Environmental Protection Agency, Region 6 in Dallas. Finally, Walter accepted two appointments from President Bill Clinton to positions in the Federal Highway Administration at the United States Department of Transportation.

Congratulations Walter… on a most impressive and meaningful career!
