About Iota:

Iota chapter was founded at the University of Denver in 1920. It thrived until the early 1990s when due to issues with the university the chapter voluntary closed. We should note that during World War II the chapter was inactive for three years while most brothers were serving their country.

In 2005 Iota was recolonized and in 2007 we were re-chartered. In 2008 and in 2009 Iota Chapter was runner up for ZBT's Brummer Cup as the most outstanding chapter in the fraternity. The chapter had previously won this award in 1968 and again in 1970. In 2007 ZBT was also honored to be the runner up in Chapter Programming as winning the participation in Philanthropic and community service projects. Then, in 2008 Iota was proud to win the award for Best New Member Recruitment with the largest recruitment class of all ZBT chapters in schools of less than 10,000. The fraternity was also recognized in 2009 for its Outstanding Community Service Programming. Locally the chapter was recognized as the Most Involved Fraternity on Campus in 2009, as well as winning Greek Week Sports Programming. In 2010 we won the Chapter of Achievement Award, the only chapter to do so on the University of Denver’s campus.

More recently Zeta Beta Tau, Iota chapter, was honored to win the University of Maryland Recognition for Participation in Philanthropic Activities, Maurice J Zellermayer Recognition for Alumni Outreach and Programming, a Retention Award, James E. Greer Recognition for Chapter Programming, the Rich/St. Louis Service Award Runner Up for Outstanding Participation in Community Service Projects, the Sibelius Award Runner Up for Outstanding Academic Improvement, the Frauenthal Award for Outstanding Participation and Participation in Intramural Athletics, the Barry D. Siegel Award for New Member Recruitment for schools under 10,000 undergraduates, and the 1st Runner-Up for the Brummer Cup. We look forward to improving on these credentials and plan on winning the Brummer Cup outright this upcoming school year.

Our house was built in 1959 and Iota was housed there until the early 1990’s. In 2009 Iota was able to renovate and reoccupy our original house. This summer we are further renovating the bathrooms, basketball court, outside deck, grilling station, and chapter room. We invite you to come check out our newly renovated house and meet some of our brothers.

Iota has nearly 600 living alumni including our advisors: Gary Berz, Jay Reano, Dr. Michael Tracy and Steve Ehrlich. Many of our alumni are actively involved in our chapter and plan on returning for the official house rededication in October of 2010. Iota alumni are also involved in helping brothers network and find jobs before graduation.
